We're right in the middle of Sonlight Christian Academy, the missionary homeshooling co-op we're a part of. For two weeks, us parents share the responsibility of teaching everyones kids (and of course try to make it all a lot more fun than regular homeschooling). This is the session we do swimming lessons (my favourite!), so far everything has been going smoothly. It is long days and we all go to bed tired but fulfilled. This is Josh's last year in the program as it only goes up to 8th grade (most MK's then go to the capital city to attend an international high school there). We're not ready to part with Josh just yet so I will be delving into the world of homeschooling a high schooler come August. I'm a little nervous but know since the Lord has placed us here, He will provide all that I need to do to get my children an adequate education. Thankfully Josh is a pretty smart kid and enjoys school.
Friday will be "graduation night" for the four 8th graders. Each dad will give a short speech and challenge to their child. Jake is putting together a slide show of Josh's 13 years. I know it sounds so cliche but it seems like yesterday I was in hospital in Iowa giving birth to him. I remember for the first week I just couldn't stop staring at him, hardly believing that he was all mine. Where does the time go? Only four more years before he will be going off to university and starting his own way in life. We are so proud of Josh and know the Lord has great plans for him. It's a good reminder to appreciate every moment we have with our special boy.
